The History of Asseretto and Garibaldi …
It’s in the distant 1800 that our history began. Those were the years when the families of Asseretto and Garibaldi entered floriculture.
In 1900 Grandfather Angelo began to cultivate in Arma di Taggia and bought the first land in Sanremo in 1905.
In 1926 Vincenzo Asseretto, father of Stefano and grandfather of Anna, the current manager, bought a land of about 20,000 square meters in Sanremo where he grew roses and carnations. Even today, our cacti grow there.
It was at the beginning of the ’70s that Stefano Asseretto and Margherita Garibaldi bought the land where the cactus are still located today.
In 1973 they founded their company A & G Floroortoagricola S.s.a., still known today as AG Sanremo.
In 1976, with a first sowing of 400,000 seeds, the production of cacti and succulents began. Within a few years they became very fond of the succulent plants; Margherita dedicated herself to succulents and Stefano to planting cactuses.
A perfect union and a precious passion, to be transmitted and cultivated. And that’s exactly how they managed to continue the story, moving from floriculture to nursery.
At the end of the 80s the two daughters Grazia and Anna Asseretto joined the company.
Today Anna and her husband Leopoldo Monari, both graduates in Agricultural Sciences, have been the soul of this world for 30 years. They too are a perfect match, both bound by a passion unbridled for their work.
Anna takes care of the commercial part, of the aesthetics, of the gardens, of the setting up of the fair stands without neglecting the wellbeing of the employees.
Leopoldo, an agronomist and expert on succulents, deals not only with production, but also with training in all its aspects.
Despite all this they do not forget their 4 children, 3 males and a female, now grown up and each with their own passions.
Today the company is spread over an area of about three hectares and the activity always maintains the same clear objective: a high quality production.
At the moment our production boasts thousands of varieties of cacti and succulents, from mignon of a few centimeters to examples of several meters, suitable for all climates, even the most torrid.
